Behind The Gates – Exquisite Gardens in the Countryside
In the Springtime, members of the South Dade Garden Club (established in 1924) host their annual tour of gardens in South Florida’s Redland countryside, visiting a variety of homes with exotic gardens and lush tropical landscapes. The tour begins and ends at the garden club’s home — the venerable Redland Fruit & Spice Park.
These inspirational and unique home gardens feature an array of colorful flowers, natural ponds, brilliant roses, tropical orchids, bold foliage and more.
Starting at the Fruit and Spice Park at 10am, tour in your own car at your own pace. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Attendees will receive a map and driving directions to all gardens on the tour. Light refreshments will be offered at each stop. The tour includes entrance to the historic Fruit and Spice Park, with a complimentary tram tour.
The tour continues rain or shine. Visitors drive their own vehicles between the properties and carpooling is encouraged. Light refreshments are offered along the way.
The properties are large with uneven terrain and we highly recommend you come fully prepared. Wheelchairs, walkers and strollers cannot be accommodated. Please wear appropriate comfortable clothing and closed-toe walking shoes.
